St. Vincent de Paul Society:
This is a group of lay people
who reach out to the poor and needy in the parish. It serves people in
need regardless of creed, colour or race. Members respond to calls for help
by friendly visits in pairs to offer vouchers for food, clothing,
furniture and household effects. A food bank is run at the Church on the
second Thursday of each month. A collection is taken once a month at all
the masses. President:

Share the Care: The goal of this service is to
provide a large number of people to be present and care for a person during
a serious illness. They do not do any medical actions but offer to sit with
persons, do the shopping, house sitting, and drive a person to Dr.
appointments, etc. |
The leader asks the ill person to give them a list of friends and these
friends are invited to a meeting at which time they volunteer their services
for a particular task. A schedule is drawn up and a captain supervises the
program so that the person’s needs are met. This Sharing the Care is a big
assistance to a family who need relief and assistance when a family member
is seriously ill. Leaders:

Knights of Columbus:
The K. of C. is a men’s fraternal
organization. They meet monthly and serve the parish by administrating the
parish hall, strengthen parish life by providing parish breakfasts and
dinners; they raise money, which is then distributed to various charities.
Twice a year they gather for men’s retreat at Mount St. Joseph. Grand Knight:

Development and Peace Organization:
This organization’s goal is educating the
parishioners about poverty or injustice in the Third World. Also, they ask
people to sign petitions asking for justice. A collection is taken once a
year and the money is send to finance projects in a Third World

Friends of Honduran Children:
This group of people offers assistance in Honduras by
way of helping to build houses, school, medical center and medical
supplies. Dr. Jim McCallum visits the Honduras several times a year
offering free dental care to the people. President: Dr Jim McCallum

Catholic Women’s
League:
The C.W.L. is a women’s organization within the parish.
Their goal is the spiritual growth of the members and offering a service
to the people of the parish. This takes the form of providing a reception
for a family after a funeral and raising money through various activities.
The money raised is then distributed to various charities and responding
to appeals for help. They meet once a month in the parish
