St. Alphonsus Health Ministry:

Parish Nursing has become a national initiative under the umbrella organization, Inter-church Health Ministries, based in Oshawa. There are more than 30 denominations associated with it, completing the gospel call to “teach, preach and HEAL.” We all have the power to heal, the medical profession being only one, alternative therapies another, our faith and the power of prayer another. Health involves body, mind and spirit. When separated, health is compromised. Healing the body alone leaves the mind and spirit ruptured. “Dis- ease” in the body is often caused by stresses in the spirit and the mind. Healing these can heal the body too.

Our Parish Nurse
brings medical training to the service of the parish but with a spiritual component present. She empowers the whole community to reach out to one another with love, companionship and with all our abundant ways to heal. Modern parishes make one--- mind, body, spirit healing. Together we are a place of healing, together we journey to wholeness. Church is a Health Place.
